I am a recovering Alcoholic with 16.5 years ongoing sobriety. I am open about this and shared that information with everyone I saw from my first appointment to the day of my operation. I had a long conversation about it with the nurse who booked me in and the anesthetist before my surgery. However I was assured that all the drugs I would receive would be fine and not caused me any problems. However, this was not in fact the case. after leaving Hospital I spoke to the medications people, number on a piece of paper given by the discharge nurse at Ashford. At her suggestion I stopped ALL the painkillers and then had 12 days (and nights) of the most awful withdrawal symptoms I have ever experienced. Luckily, I did not start drinking to alleviate the symptoms but discussed it with my GP and practice nurse plus several people from A A. This should not have happened and I should have been told that, with my history, there was a chance it would, so I could prepare myself and my husband for it, or I could have been given the option of non-addictive drugs.
Thank you for excellent care with prompt and professional service.
The two scores of 4 are due to the circumstances through 2020.
Great experience and very helpful in speeding up my recovery. Very clear communication and a friendly face.
A very pleasant experience. The only issue was a delay in being discharged whilst awaiting prescription drugs to be sent from St Peter's hospital.
Staff very friendly and felt safe
Hospital was very clean and organised. Never had to wait in crowded areas and never felt I was a nuicance
I was treated with the greatest respect and kindness. Both the Doctor and Nurse were wonderful and cannot thank them enough for how they looked after me and made me feel at ease. Thank you both and for all that you do.
Thank you Dean for being very patient with this particular patient! Advice given was understood and very helpful and will be put into action. The appointment was on time and I didn't have to travel anywhere!!

I was made to feel at ease during my minor op as I was worried before hand. Explained the procedure to me so I understood I felt I was looked after really well.
